The Mandalay Cafe and Restaurant in Silver Spring, MD, is a family owned Burmese restaurant with family in and strong ties to Myanmar (Burma). We are very concerned about our family there, and of course about everyone affected by Cyclone Nargis.
We are looking into what we can realistically do in terms of relief for Myanmar, and once we know what that will be we will contact those who have expressed interest in contributing to this effort. This Blog is a way to give people a way to express their interest in helping out. If you are interested, we ask you to post a comment on this blog and give us a way to contact you.
Also, as time goes by and we have better ideas as to what we will do we will update this Blog. We sincerely hope that the UN and the US will be permitted to assist, and we are keeping a close eye on the news.
We do promise that we will not use the information we gather here for anything EXCEPT cyclone relief. We are very much against spam and other forms of internet abuse.
ALL Comments initially went to “moderation” rather than appearing automatically. Now that we are sure your email address won’t be made public by your comment to our Blog we are re-setting that function.
We thank you for visiting and hope you will join us in doing what we can to help those in need.

My thoughts have been with you and your families. My husband and friends adore your restaurant and are planning to dine with you this weekend.
Wishing help and care soon reaches each of the countless victims of this terrible tragedy.

I’ve been thinking of you and your families. Dave put the word out about the dinner- while I won’t be able to be there on the 1st, I’m definitely stopping by as soon as finals are over.
Please keep me posted.
